Vetralla to Sutri

Leaving before 6:00 am, and still smiling!

Hello y’all, Hallelujah!  Miracles today: 1). We got out of the hotel before 6:00a.m.  2). We met some folks on the hike.  3). We finished a hike longer than 10 miles,  4).  Our record 5th day in a row.  The hike today was really nice for many reasons.  We met and walked a ways today with 4 other hikers, Mario and Hillary from Connecticut, and James and Laura from Canada.  They are friends, and hiking together, they started yesterday from Viterbo, a total 5 day hike to Rome.  Walking and talking with others makes the miles and time fly by, the downside is that you don’t see as much along the way, and don’t take pictures.  We had a “breakfast break” after 2 miles, translation is coffee / coke and pastry.  We really have breakfast before we leave, usually a yogurt and some fruit.  We stopped again at the 10 mile point for a sandwich and drinks.  A lot of the last 5 miles was in the forest, and I mean forest.  I don’t think that I have ever been that deep into the forest, and that far from civilization.  The up side was it was all shaded.  We got in to town around 1:00 or so, got into our room, took a shower and had a little nap.  There wasn’t much to the town, so we checked a few things out, and had dinner.  Got to get up for a early departure,  little over 15 miles again tomorrow.  Until then.

The sun was up, but not high enough to see it.

“Breakfast”

Heading into the Forest.

Deep into the forest

Civilization and our town ahead

Had to get to a church today, we were in several.  We did not enter one church yesterday, a real oddity.
