Bolsena to Montefiscone

                 Leaving the Palace this morning.

Hello y’all, well, that’s two in a row!  We got out at about the same time as the day before, 6:10.  Another cool morning, but no long sleeve shirt over top required.  We had a mostly an up hill hike today, and it varied from road walking to trail walking, and a 50/50 sunny and shaded day.  There were no towns between, so we only ate or drank what we carried.  This trail between the two towns on the lake, however, provided several areas along the way, a picnic table or some other suitable place to rest and snack.  They are very much appreciated!  Tomorrow is another hike, with no towns between, 10.5 miles with what we carry.  It is starting to warm up again, so it is important that we get out early again.  We were a little sore on today’s walk, after 6 days off, our bodies need to adjust to walking everyday again.  After checking in early to our hotel, and getting a little nap, we went out to discover Montefiascone.  That always includes ducking in to every church that we find.  The cathedral here was very different in design, build in a hexagon shape, it made it look huge in size.  We also went to Rocca dei Pepi, a fortress built on the highest point in town, commissioned by the Pope in the 12 century.  The view on top is 360 degrees, unobstructed.  Incredible!  More tomorrow.

                        Love these streets in town

Hitting the trail.

Love the shaded parts.

Still going around the lake.

1st church just entering town.
